Maria Luisa Persson was born and grown up in Brazil. Maria Luisa Persson was only 22 years old when she had her first exhibition at the Teatro Deodoro. Her paintings at this time were directly influenced by her environment due to drought, barren earth and poverty but also by the joy in spite the most difficult conditions of life.
The friends and family who had known her the best said their impressions of her strength and spontaneity. Although influences of her past experience in her paintings, Maria Luisa Persson found a new way to express herself in the use of colours, colour is expressive and seeks to have a strong effect on the viewer. She used mostly paint and paper, oil on paper collage since 2002 and she has been an art teacher since 1988.
Maria Luisa Persson participated almost 40 exhibitions until now, in Brasil and in Sweden where she has lived since 1974 but also in Denmark and New-york.
